Our history

Tradition handed down from generation to generation

The history of our restaurant begins in the early 1900s, when Perilli Semiramide, grandmother of our mother, Carli Semiramide, became the owner of an inn inside the Castle of Melezzole: wine and hot meals for all travelers who, coming from from Todi, they head towards the Maremma. The customs of those times, however, are not favorable to our descendants, as, on the death of grandmother Semiramide, the tavern passes by right to the first male heir Perilli Cincinnato and from him to his son Domenico, who do not seem to have the same love for home cooking that made the tavern an excellence in the area.

The family tradition, however, could not be broken in this way ... and it was thus that the same love and the same passion that had distinguished the grandmother, lights up like a fire in the soul of our mother, Carli Semiramide who, with her Helped by our father Antonio, in 1990 he decided to revive the ancient tradition of home cooking, devoting himself full time to the management of the new restaurant "Semiramide".

From here begins our experience, full of efforts but of infinite satisfactions.

All three of us grew up, me (Pierluigi) and my two sisters Valentina and Chiara, observing the work of our parents and reading in their eyes the joy of having realized their dream. And we nourished ourselves with this dream. Valentina took a different path, while Chiara and I decided to invest in this dream.

Thanks to the help of our parents, we attended the Hotel School and from there we began to mature and increase our experience, putting into practice what we had been taught. In fact, we combined work experiences, including foreign ones, with the study, which allowed us to decide, in 2006, to take over the direct management of the place. My experience as a cook, combined with Chiara's as a room attendant, also excellent in English, represent a perfect combination that allows us to offer our customers the best of Umbrian cuisine and hospitality every day.

Our commitment and hard work is rewarded every day by the favorable comments of our guests, as well as by the numerous emails we receive. Considerable appreciation also came from publications in specialized magazines in Italy and abroad, all confirmed in 2008 with the participation in the broadcast "La prova del cuoco" on Rai1.

Grandma Semiramide's dream lives every day in our dishes and in our passion and dedication to the work we do.
